MIKA Pharma GmbH was established in 1994 for the development and production of primarily dermal, transdermal, and buccal application systems for pharmaceuticals on the basis of sprayable liposomes, pre-liposomal solutions and proprietary micellar nano-solutions.

The products developed and manufactured by MIKA Pharma GmbH are distributed by independent pharmaceutical firms. MIKA Pharma GmbH has patented its drug delivery technologies (MIKA™ -spraygel-, -SILEC-, -nanoMixell™-, and -RAPOSAL™-technology).

As early as 1995 first approvals for marketing authorization could be secured. The very first product entering the market was MIKA™-heparin-spraygel (MK31).

By the end of the 1990s another product, MIKA™ -diclofenac-spraygel (MK03), successfully completed clinical phase III and received first approvals for marketing authorization. Today this product has been approved in 32 countries worldwide, and the clinical program investigating its outstanding tolerability and efficacy is still ongoing.

Further products, such as MIKA™ -ketoprofen-spraygel (MK22), MK49 (buccal/transmucosal spray), a systemically acting rapid pain reliever, and the highly innovative MK50, containing the nce (new chemical entity) tarenflurbil, exhibiting a new mechanism of action for the treatment of local pain and inflammation, and the MIKA™ -corticosteroid sprays (MK51 and MK52) complete MIKA´s current innovation pipeline.

The overall MIKA Pharma GmbH portfolio contains products and advanced projects in various indication fields, e.g. sports injuries, rheumatic disorders, pain, superficial thrombophlebitis, cough, fungal infections, various skin disorders, to mention just a few.
